Sponsorship Opportunities
Greetings from the Stearns County 4-H Robot-X VEX robotics Club,
This year will be the second year that Stearns County 4-H will be having a VEX robotics team. We are the VEX robotics team known as the X-Bots, a 4-H group that came together with a common vision - to compete in state and world VEX tournaments which are sponsored by STEM. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. VEX is a rapidly growing, youth-centered robotics program. For VEX, there are many challenges to overcome. The first and foremost challenge is the ever changing game. Every year VEX changes the playing field. Last year, it was Sack Attack, a game with bean bags as the main playing object. This year is Toss Up, a game played with Bucky and Beach balls. Secondly, each team must come up with a new robot design every year to be able to conform to the new game design. St. Cloud Technical Community College graciously supplies us with a basic kit free of charge, contains enough parts to build a basic robot. Although it functions well, the kit is not enough to build an extremely competitive robot. All additional parts to build our robot must be bought with our own personal money. Finally, the last challenge is programming. VEX is a thrilling robotics challenge that is educating the next generation in programming, engineering, leadership skills, and teamwork.
This year, our team has already begun our meetings and planning the robot in order to be ready for the Albert Lea competition on December 14th. During these next few months, we will meet every weekend in order to work on and understand our robot. We are also attending sessions at SCTCC with Aaron Barker, one of the professors, to learn about ways to program and advance our robots. During this time, we are also able to learn more about the college and possible majors that are related to robotics. Through this club, we are exercising our teamwork skills and learning leadership roles.
Last year our team, the X-Bots, competed in two VEX robot events; one in Albert Lea and the other in Saint Cloud. We received 1st place in the Albert Lea competition and 7th of 30th in Saint Cloud. Our team did not have access to a competition field to program our robot for autonomous programming, a program where the robot controls itself, but this year one of our goals is to use the competition field at SCTCC in order to be able to create a autonomous program in which we will score. Another goal of ours is to receive an award at one of the competitions which we earned one of last year. Last year, our team received the teamwork award, meaning that, we were able to work well as a team.
If you decide to take the opportunity to sponsor there will be benefits. For example, you will be able to put a picture of us up at your business stating that you sponsored us. Another benefit will be you business posted on our website and a link directly to your website. If you decide to be a cloverleaf sponsor your name will be on our Website. Benefits that come at different levels are your company name and logo at our booth at the competition and we will mention you in a newspaper article.
As one of our sponsors, we would like to be able to return the favor by giving something back.
Thank you for your consideration,
Aaron K., Eric S., Emma M., Beth T., Matthew T., Travis W., Ethan W., Jenna B., and Abby K., Jack K., Colten S., Talon S., Quentin S., Zach W., Nathan K, Christian W.
